The Flame and Horsehead Nebulae

This image is an original astrophotography piece done by Kolby Van Camp over two nights under Kansas skies. The image shows a detailed view of the deep sky objects IC 434 the Horsehead Nebula and NGC 2024 the Flame Nebula. IC 434 is approximately 1,375 light years away and is dark nebula in the constellation Orion. NGC 2024, also found in the constellation Orion, is an emission nebula 1,350 light years away. With a total integration time of four hours and fifty minutes, this high resolution image is perfect for the wall of original art collectors and astronomy enthusiasts alike. This image was taken by a ZWO 533MC Pro cooled astro-camera attached to a William Optics Zenithstar 73 apochromatic doublet refractor under Bortle 4 skies in northeast Kansas.
